Finished My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella.
Katie’s life is not at all perfect, no matter what her Instagram would have you believe. That account is carefully curated to show a specific (and awesome) life but the reality is far different. Her boss is possibly literally insane. Her love life is non-existent. Her roommates are annoying. And then she gets laid off and, for lack of anything better, she goes back home to help her dad and stepmom start a new business (“glamping” on a farm). And THEN her boss shows up for a vacation…
Like all of Sophie Kinsella’s books, this one is really fun. It’s hard not to identify with Katie (we all know what it’s like to try and present a great face on social media, right? Even if in real life, we’re scrounging for coins for a dollar menu treat or barely holding on or whatever and we would never share that on social media. Facebook is a highlight reel, not a documentary) and she’s hilarious. And also if you don’t like your boss, there is a great piece of revenge that you can live vicariously through Katie. You’ll know it when you see it.
Pop this one in your beach bag.
