Finished Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson. I received a copy for review.
Mary Addison killed a baby when she was nine years old. The story captured the nation’s interest and spawned several books (and is soon to be a Lifetime movie). But now she’s 16 and she’s pregnant. She’s not in “baby jail” anymore, but she probably won’t be allowed to keep the baby. (She lives in a group home with some really dangerous kids.) All of a sudden, she has reasons to tell what really happened to baby Alyssa.
Oh, guys, this book. It’s incredibly intense. Mary’s life is awful and her fellow residents are seriously terrifying. Her…I guess you’d call them housemothers? are seriously useless and she can’t count on anybody. All she wants is to be with Ted and to get to keep their baby, but no one thinks it’s a good idea. (We won’t even get started on their reaction to her wanting to take the SATs.)
This is the kind of book that will stick with you. Recommended.
