Unscripted Joss Byrd

Finished Unscripted Joss Byrd by Lygia Day Penaflor. I received a copy from the publisher for review.

This was an impulse grab at ALA and I’m so glad I picked it up. I’m a fan of Hollywood novels and this one (set in Montauk over a film shoot) is a great summer read.

Joss is filming The Locals. She’s done other movies but this is a big deal, one that could really make her a star. Except it’s not going that well. It’s hard, the script keeps being rewritten (she’s dyslexic, which no one knows; she doesn’t want to be difficult…or rather, her mom says that will make her difficult and Joss believes it) and she had a thing for her costar.
There are a lot of serious topics but they are handled sensitively and the book is just sweet. Recommended.
