This is a documentary of sorts. As you’d expect, it’s an hour of Stephen King talking about horror movies.
I’m not sure how many people would find this interesting, but I absolutely love it. There’s always something fascinating when people discuss what they’re passionate about, and it tends to be even better when it’s something I love, too.
Obviously, he knows what he’s talking about, too.
He discusses sociological implications (current tendency in horror movies—by which I mean slashers, in this case—where we are almost forced to cheer on the monster because the victims aren’t fleshed out as characters), trends and his own movies (Carrie, The Dead Zone, Misery, Cujo, yay! The Shining, boo).
But there are people making great horror movies. I would like an updated version where he discusses James Wan.
TCM runs this every so often and I recommend it.
