For the first time, I’ve read enough middlegrade books to do a best of list!
10) Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer. Give me a book where books come alive and I am a happy Kelly.
9) Mr. Terupt Falls Again by Rob Buyea. Sweet book about the difference teachers can make.
8) The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver. I’m pretty sure I had you at “by Lauren Oliver,” right?
7) The Revolution of Evelyn Serrano by Sonia Manzano. I’m so glad I got the chance to read this book. I completely loved it and it shows a part of history I had been completely unaware of.
6) The False Prince by Jennifer A. Neilsen. A perfect book and I can’t wait for the sequel.
5) Audition & Subtraction by Amy Fellner Dominy. A novel about friendship and how it can be tested when boys are involved.
4) Liar and Spy by Rebecca Stead. Finally a new Rebecca Stead and this didn’t disappoint.
3) The Secret Tree by Natalie Standiford. Sort of like PostSecret but with roller derby. Natalie Standiford is one of the best authors around and this is a great introduction to her if you haven’t read her already.
2) See You at Harry’s by Jo Knowles. Amazing book (no surprise, given the author) and a story that will stay with you.
1) Wonder by RJ Palacio. This was one of the best books I’ve read all year and another book that was given as presents to many people.
happy to see my friend Amy’s new book in the list! She is definitely a writer to watch (and read!). And, oh, the wonder of Wonder. (See You at Harry’s still on my MUST-read pile.
I love Jo Knowles; her books are amazing. And I’ve liked your friend since OyMG.
Thank you Kelly! It means a lot that you included me on your list–especially among such great books. I do to add a few of those to my TBR list. *Hugs!* (And a group hug with Gae, who is the one who introduced me to you!!)
Oh, of course! :) I’ve loved both your books and hope 2013 will bring another. :)
