H20 (or Halloween: 20 Years Later) is definitely my favorite of the sequels…and possibly my favorite sequel full stop.
After the events of Halloween and Halloween 2, Laurie Strode faked her death and moved to California. The new Keri Tate is the headmistress of a boarding school where her teenage son, John, also goes. John’s 17, the same age that Laurie/Keri was when Michael Myers tried to kill her that Halloween night. Now, years later, she relies on alcohol and pills to get through her life because she’s pretty sure that Michael Myers is going to come back for her.
This movie is just ridiculously fun. There are a handful of Scream references (to pay it back for all the Halloween references) and it has Michelle Williams in it. (And Josh Hartnett—whatever happened to him?)
If the Halloween franchise had ended with this movie, I think it would have been perfect. But we won’t talk about Halloween: Resurrection.
