The original Omen is one of my favorite movies, so it’s no surprise I like the remake. (This is such a faithful adaptation that the guy who wrote the original has a writing credit on this one.)
There are actually only a handful of differences—an additional death to explain why the Thorns are in London and a new openng and closing scene to show how close we could be to the “end of days.” Also, the scene at the zoo is different.
I prefer the original (the acting is amazing) but there are a lot of good things here, too. I like the additional scenes and the fact that the original Damien has a cameo in this (he’s a reporter at the embassy, the one who asks Robert if the nanny was on drugs).
But my favorite thing is the fact that Mia Farrow plays Mrs. Baylock (the replacement nanny). She isn’t as scary as Billie Whitelaw but she was ROSEMARY.
Still, though, this is definitely more fun than scary. If you’re only going to see one, see the original.
