Reading Slump

As I have previously discussed (read: complained about), I am currently in the midst of a reading slump.  I’ve read a few books (I think three) over the course of the past two weeks.  Generally over the course of two weeks, I’ll read 14 books.  Maybe less (12?) but for the most part, I am a book a day person.

In an ideal world, slumps like this would happen in the spring or fall, because then at least I would have TV to look forward to.  As opposed to now, when I have Breaking Bad and Weeds (both on Sunday) and The Daily Show (when it airs).

So basically I’ve been very out of sorts.  And so expect my little book blog to have a lot of more personal posts (and movie reviews) over the past few days.

I will also take requests! ;)

I was slamming through some books–it felt good to be reading again, and you gave me some gems (“After Eli,” “Rape Girl,” et. al). Then, for a change, I picked up one of my favorites I read maybe q0n (Boy’s Life, by Robert McCammon). This book is so rich with imagery and nostalgia, that I read more slowly, savoring more. It’s part of what I call the “sweet, small town memoir” genre, as I call it. Another is “A Short History of a Small Place,” by T.R. Pearson. They’re still books, obviously, but I find them impossible to read at the same clip as “Ready, Player One” or the Soul Screamer series. It’s a nice change of pace for me. Maybe you could try reading something like these, just until you get your swing back. :-)

I’m actually doing better right now. I read two books over my weekend and am currently reading The Cutting Season by Attica Locke, which is very good. I’ll have to look for those books, though; they sound very good.

    * “maybe 10 years ago.” No idea where “I read maybe q0n” came from.
If you’re looking for a quirky awesome tv series (only 13 episodes, sadly), check out “Endgame” on hulu.com.

Have you read Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein yet? It is historical fiction but it is seriously my favorite book of 2012 and I am still thinking about it! Also The Night Circus is really good!

I’m lucky to get one book in a week! Have you read any of the Dexter Series. That is starting soon!

Yes, but I don’t have an adorable Marley to distract me. :)

I read the first book and didn’t like it. I liked the show more but I haven’t seen many episodes. I need to get Netflix.
