Movies:
Welcome to August! This is the Literary Adaptations month for Flick Buddies, and while I am probably not going to see The Savages (John’s pick) or Room With a View (Bekki’s pick), but I am very, VERY excited to rewatch Contact (Steve’s pick), Jaws (Jenny’s pick) and To Kill a Mockingbird (my pick). Not sure what I’ll watch tomorrow…but odds are good “We’re gonna need a bigger boat” will be heard.
What’s even better than Literary Adaptations month? September, which is Meryl Streep month.
Books:
I don’t know if you heard this Monday or Tuesday, but Maeve Binchy died. She was one of my favorite authors when I was in middle and high school—they were the equivalent of comfort food, and some of them (Circle of Friends and Light a Penny Candle, especially) were some of my favorite books ever. I need to read her last book (Minding Frankie) and I want to re-read Circle of Friends. I want to re-watch the movie, too.

What??? Maeve Binchy died? So, so sad to hear this.
I know! It seriously feels like one of my best friends from school died. We lost touch (metaphorically) but still. I loved her books.
