John Adams was one of the best TV shows for 2008, according to the AFI.
Episode watched: Part one
Seen before? No
Would I keep watching? Yes
My knowledge of early presidents is fairly limited and while I know the basics of the founding of our country, there’s a lot I don’t know. And apparently many of those gaps fall under the heading of “Why John Adams Is Awesome.”
This was incredibly interesting. John Adams was a social crusader (and honestly, not unlike Atticus Finch) and in this episode, he takes on an unpopular trial (defending the British soldiers who are accused of killing civilians) and, after the victory, Adams is tapped to be part of the Continental Congress in Philadelphia. (And that’s where this episode ended.)
Paul Giamatti is a great actor and so is Laura Linney, who plays his wife. (Also, Abigail Adams seems pretty awesome.)
I hope to watch the other episodes in the miniseries, should HBO play them again.
