Welcome to my lately-neglected Things I’m Obsessed With! I have been reading a lot lately so reviews have been pre-empting this feature lately, but so far as I know, it IS back for at least the next few weeks.
TV:
We are currently in the part of the year where my TV shows are ending/almost ending. Now most shows I watch have already ended or, in the case of 30 Rock and Grey’s Anatomy, are ending tomorrow. (The only exceptions: The Big C and Mad Men.) It’s been a really good season for pretty much all my shows, and I am really excited for Grey’s tomorrow. (The plane crash! Someone dies! I hope it’s Callie, but I don’t think she was on the plane.) I’m also excited for the return of Breaking Bad, whenever that happens to be.
Books:
I feel like June 5 is the next big release day. May 1 and 8 were huge for me (you may remember me discussing them A LOT) and June 5 is another one of those where I want to read ALL THE BOOKS. I’ll actually be at BEA that week, so it’ll take me a while to get to them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the new Pretty Little Liars gets slipped to the top of the to-read stack anyway.
BEA Tips (and BEA in general):
This is my third year going to BEA, and I am so ridiculously excited. Two weeks from tomorrow, I am heading back home (Sam is staying at Grandma’s while I am away) and that’s day one of my nearly two-week vacation. (I do not play around when it comes to BEA.) I have done several lists of signings I want to go to and events I want to attend, and I THINK my list is finally complete. Well, until I get to BEA and learn about the last minute stuff and also make last minute executive decisions to not stand in a ridiculously long line for a book I’m not sure I’m in love with anyway.
If this is your first year, I really only have two tips for you. WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES. Seriously. This shows up in everyone’s list and there’s a good reason for it. Javits is huge; you’re on your feet the entire day and you probably walk the equivalent of several miles traveling the lines and the booths. Second, make peace with the fact that you’re probably not going to get everything you want. Prioritize and have fun. That’s probably the best you can do.
Oh, bonus third tip: do not become the subject of a BEA Urban Legend. Last year, someone got bitten! (Actually, this is a true story.) Do not bite anyone for ARCs.
If you see me there, come say hi! :)
So what are you obsessed with this week?
