Finished Entice by Carrie Jones. This is the third book in the Need trilogy. There are no spoilers for Entice, but this review does contain some for earlier books.
Zara is now a pixie queen and determined to get Nick back from Valhalla. The problem—no one knows where it is or if it’s even really possible to get there. To make matters even worse, she’s starting to like Astley (the pixie king who turned her). Also, while her friends and grandmother are (slowly) getting used to her new status (as a pixie, as opposed to as a human teen), her mom seems to hate her.
This is an incredibly entertaining series. I loved the first two books, so I’m not sure why it took me so long to read book three, but at least I’m getting to it now. AND I’m very happy that I can read Endure (the fourth and final book) after I’m done, because WOW.
I wouldn’t say that this is the best paranormal YA series, but I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a series that’s more fun.
I love Zara (possibly even more as a pixie queen) and her friends. And also—and this may be because it’s been so long since I read the first two books—I really like Astley. I know readers are supposed to be Team Nick but there’s something about Astley.
I think most of all, though, I love Zara’s grandmother, Betty. Zara’s nervous about seeing her because Betty is a were and is pretty much a sworn enemy of pixies. But Betty’s still her grandmother, and is so completely sweet about it. Unfortunately, though, that makes Zara’s mom’s attitude all the worse, because if there’s anyone you expect to love you no matter what, it’s your mom. (The important thing is that Zara gets unconditional love from SOMEONE, but still. It has to sting.)
I love this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next. :)
